Reaction Steps
A solution of ethyl-4-anilino-3-benzylamino-5-sulphamyl-benzoate (1 g) in 1N sodium hydroxide (15 ml) was heated on a steam bath for 1 hour. After cooling, the 4-anilino-3-benzylamino-5-sulphamyl-benzoic acid was precipitated by addition of acetic acid, collected and recrystallized from 6% ethanol in water. The melting point was 248°-249°C.
