A mixture of 7-benzyl-4-hydroxy-8-oxo-7,8-dihydro-[2,7]naphthyridine-3-carboxylic acid methyl ester (40 mg, 0.13 mmol) and 4-(aminomethyl)-pyridine (0.050 mL, 0.45 mmol) in 2 mL of EtOH was heated at 79° C. for 4 h. Acetic acid (0.1 mL) and water (3 mL) were added, and the resulting suspension was allowed to come to r.t. The solid was isolated by filtration and dried under high vacuum to afford 33 mg of the title compound as a light yellow solid. MS: (+) m/z 386.40 (M+1).
