Procedure
A mixture of 6-benzyl-4-hydroxy-5-oxo-5,6-dihydro-[2,6]naphthyridine-3-carboxylic acid methyl ester (130 mg, 0.42 mmol) and bis(2,4,6-trimethylpyridine)iodine(I) hexafluorophosphate (1.08 g, 2.10 mmol) in 5 mL of CH2Cl2 was stirred at r.t. for 16 h. The mixture was diluted with CH2Cl2 (50 mL) and washed with dilute sodium bisulfite and 1 M HCl. The organic layer was dried over MgSO4 and concentrated to give 180 mg of the title compound as a pale yellow solid. 1H NMR (CDCl3, 200 MHz): δ=13.56 (s, 1H), 7.20-7.50 (m, 6H), 6.77 (d, 1H, J=7.4 Hz), 5.30 (s, 2H), 3.99 (s, 3H).
