A solution of 2-((2-chloro-5-cyano-3-(1-hydroxyethyl)phenyl)amino)-4-(cyclopropylamino)imidazo[2,1-f][1,2,4]triazine-7-carbonitrile (Example 677) (56 mg, 0.14 mmol) in THF (4 mL) was cooled in an ice bath and methanesulfonyl chloride (28 μL, 0.36 mmol) was added. The bath was removed and quenched after 5 min with a little water. This was extracted with EtOAc and the organic extracts were washed with brine and dried with sodium sulfate. The solvent was removed to leave 1-(2-chloro-5-cyano-3-((7-cyano-4-(cyclopropylamino)imidazo[2,1-f][1,2,4]triazin-2-yl)amino)phenyl)ethyl methanesulfonate (67 mg) as a white solid that was used as such.
