Procedure
A mixture of methyl 5-amino-1H-1,2,4-triazole-3-carboxylate (800 mg, 5.63 mmol) and methylamine ethanol solution (30%, 10 ml) was stirred for 3 h at 80° C. The resulting mixture was concentrated under vacuum to afford 5-amino-N-methyl-1H-1,2,4-triazole-3-carboxamide as a white solid (0.5 g, 63%).
