Reaction Steps

To a stirred solution of the product from step (b) (0.18 g, 0.49 mmol) dissolved in ethanol (2 ml) was added NaBH4 (0.046, 1.21 mmol). The reaction mixture was allowed to stir at RT for 1 hour. The reaction mixture was diluted with water and extracted with DCM (3×). The combined DCM extracts were washed with brine, dried (Na2SO4), and solvent evaporated in vacuo to give the sub-titled compound as a white semi-solid (0.13 g) which was used as obtained in the next step. MS: ESI (positive): 374 (M+H).
