3,4-Bis(benzyloxy)-6-chloropyridazine (Intermediate 1) (1 g, 3.1 mmol), [1,1′-bis(di-tert-butylphosphino)ferrocene]palladium(II) dichloride (0.100 g, 0.15 mmol) and sodium tert-butoxide (0.59 g, 6.1 mmol) were added to dioxane (10.2 ml). The resulting mixture was purged with nitrogen before 4-fluorobenzylamine (78 mg, 6.1 mmol) was added. The mixture was heated at 120° C. for 1 hour under microwave irradiation. Upon cooling the crude mixture was quenched with water and extracted with ethyl acetate before the organic extracts were dried (MgSO4) and concentrated in vacuo. The residue was purified by column chromatography on silica eluting with 0-100% ethyl acetate/petrol to yield the title compound.
