tert-Butyl 9-methyl-7-(2-oxo-4-(pyridin-2-ylmethoxy)pyridin-1(2H)-yl)-3,4-dihydro-1H-pyrido[3,4-b]indole-2(9H)-carboxylate (167 mg, 0.34 mmol) was deprotected and converted to the dihydrochloride salt according to the procedure of Example 30 (steps e and g) to provide the title compound (124 mg, 79%) as a yellow solid: mp 226-231° C.; 1H NMR (500 MHz, CD3OD) δ 8.89 (d, J=5.4 Hz, 1H), 8.61 (overlapping ddd, J=8.0, 1.6 Hz, 1H), 8.16 (d, J=8.0 Hz, 1H), 8.02 (overlapping dd, J=6.6 Hz, 1H), 7.70 (d, J=7.6 Hz, 1H), 7.63 (d, J=8.4 Hz, 1H), 7.47 (d, J=1.6 Hz, 1H), 7.06 (dd, J=8.4, 1.8 Hz, 1H), 6.44 (dd, J=7.6, 2.7 Hz, 1H), 6.21 (d, J=2.6 Hz, 1H), 5.57 (s, 2H), 4.56 (s, 2H), 3.73 (s, 3H), 3.60 (t, J=6.0, 2H), 3.13 (t, J=6.0, 2H); ESI MS m/z 387 [M+H]+; HPLC (Method B) 98.6% (AUC), tR=9.2 min.
