Reaction Steps

First, 2.2 mmol of 2-bromo-2′-nitroacetophenone, 3.3. mmol (1.5 eq.) of 2-pyridylacetate and 4.4 mmol (2 eq.) of NaHCO3 are dissolved into 10 ml of acetone and the reaction mixture is allowed to react at 90° C. for 16 hours. After the completion of the reaction, the reaction mixture is concentrated under reduced pressure, dissolved into 10 ml of dichloromethane, and washed with 10 ml of water to remove impurities. Then, 10 ml of dichloromethane is added to the aqueous layer to carry out extraction once more. The resultant organic layer is dried over magnesium sulfate, concentrated under reduced pressure, and purified by silica gel column chromatography using hexane:ethyl acetate:dichloromethane=10:1:2 as a solvent to obtain the target compound.
