A suspension of 10% palladium-on-carbon (100 mg) in ethanol was added to a solution of (R)-(1-(4-amino-5-nitropyrimidin-2-yl)piperidin-3-yl)(pyrrolidin-1-yl)methanone (200 mg, 0.62 mmol) in ethanol (10 mL) at room temperature under a nitrogen atmosphere. The mixture was hydrogenated using a balloon filled with hydrogen gas at room temperature for 2 h. The suspension was filtered through a pad of Celite under a nitrogen atmosphere and the filtrate was used for the next step without further purification.
