A balloon filled with hydrogen was connected to a degassed mixture of (S)-2-tert-butoxy-2-(5-(4-chlorophenyl)-7-methyl-2-vinylquinolin-6-yl)ethanol (9 mg, 0.024 mmol) and Rhodium on activated alumina (2 mg, cat.) in ethanol. The mixture was stirred at room temperature for 2 hours, filtered and concentrated to dry. The obtained residue was used on next step reaction without purification. LCMS-ESI+ (m/z): 398.2, 400.2 (M+H)+.
