3-{3-Methoxy-4-{1-(4-methylphenyl)-3-[4-(2-methoxyphenyl)piperazin-1-yl]propoxy}benzoyl}-1-(phenylsulfonyl)indole (0.49 g) obtained in Step 4 was dissolved in methanol (10 ml). Potassium hydroxide (0.60 g) was added to the resultant solution and refluxed for 1 hour. After cooling, the solvent was distilled off. Water was added to the residue, followed by extraction with methylene chloride. The extract was washed with brine and then dried. The solvent was distilled off, obtaining 0.37 g of 3-{3-methoxy-4-{l-(4-methylphenyl)-3-[4-(2-methoxyphenyl) piperazin-1-yl]propoxy}benzoyl}indole as a light yellow oily substance.
