This compound was synthesized from 6-(p-propoxyphenyl)-5-hexenoic acid (1.49 g, 6 mmol) and Pd/BaSO4 (150 mg) by a hydrogenation reaction. Crystallization (petroleum ether) yielded the product (1.38 g, 92%) as white crystals (mp 42°-43° C.), IR: 3400-2500, 1715 cm-1 ; 1H-NMR: 1.00 (t, 3H), 1.55 (m, 8H), 2.40 (m, 4H), 3.90 (t, 2H), 6.95 (q, 4H), 7.90 (bs, 1H). Anal. Calcd. for C15H22 O3 : C, 71.97, H, 8.86%; Found: C, 72.04, H, 8.88%.
