Procedure

1.5 g of 4-chlorodifluoromethyl-5-pivaloylpyrimidine was dissolved in 50 ml of ethanol, then 1 g of a boron ammonia complex was added, and the mixture was stirred at room temperature for 1 hour. After the solvent was distilled off under reduced pressure, water was added, and extraction with chloroform was carried out. The extract layer was washed with water and then dried over anhydrous sodium sulfate. The solvent was distilled off under reduced pressure, and the residue was purified by thin-layer chromatography (developing solvent: chloroform/ethyl acetate=7/3) to obtain 1.1 g of the desired product as a viscous liquid. nD19.8 1.4623
