25.1 g (0.15 mol) of 4-nitrophenylurea were dissolved in 150 ml of methylene chloride. The solution was filtered and then 27.0 g (0.17 mol) of 3-aminomethyl-2,5-dimethoxytetrahydrofuran dissolved in 150 ml of methylene chloride were added dropwise at 0° C. The mixture was stirred at room temperature for 1 h and the resulting precipitate was filtered off with suction. 45 g (91%) of the product were obtained. Melting point 172°-174° C.
