The product from Example 6, 9, is dissolved in ethanol (500 mL) and 2M sodium hydroxide (50 mL) is added. The reaction is stirred for 6 hours, then neutralized with 50 mL of 2M HC1 solution, and evaporated to remove the ethanol. The residue is dissolved in dichloromethane (250 mL) and is extracted with water (2×50 mL), dried, filtered, and evaporated to a solid.
