A solution of the product of Step B (0.91 g, 3.6 mmol) in methanol (10 ml) was treated by the procedure described for Example 1, Step C to give an oil (0.79 g, 86%) that was used in the next reaction with further purification: 1H NMR δ (CDCl3) 7.99 (s, 1H), 7.98 (s, 1H), 7.60 (d, J=8.6 Hz, 1H), 7.01 and 6.96 (dd, J=2.0 and 8.6 Hz, 1H,), 4.14–3.89 (m, 3H), 1.56 (s, 3H) 1.32 (s, 9H).
