Procedure
An aqueous 2N sodium hydroxide solution (3.4 mL) was added to methanol (20 mL) solution of the compound (0.78 g) obtained in Step 2 and heated under reflux for three hours. The solvent was removed under reduced pressure and to the residue was added with ether and water to be separated. The aqueous layer was washed with ether and the remaining aqueous layer adjusted to pH 5 to 7 with 3N hydrochloric acid and stirred at 50° C. for thirty minutes. The precipitate was collected by filtration and washed with water and then dried under reduced pressure to obtain the titled compound (0.67 g) as crystals.
