The title compound was prepared from ethyl[4-(chlorosulfonyl)-2-chlorophenoxy]acetate (intermediate 113) by a method analogous to that used for the preparation of {2-ethyl-4-[({2-methyl-5-[4-(trifluoromethyl)phenyl]-3-furyl}methyl)thio]phenoxy}acetic acid (example 145).
