The title compound was prepared from ethyl[4-(bromosulfonyl)-2-chlorophenoxy]acetate (intermediate 114) by a method analogous to that used for the preparation of {2-ethyl4-[({2-methyl-5-[4-(trifluoromethyl)phenyl]-3-furyl}methyl)thio]phenoxy}acetic acid (example 145).
