The title compound was prepared by a method analogous to that used for the preparation of ethyl{2-methyl-4-[({5-[4-(trifluoromethyl)phenyl]-3-furyl}methyl)thio]phenoxy}acetate (example 1) using ethyl(4-mercapto-2-methylphenoxy)acetate (intermediate 4) and {3-methyl-5-[4-(trifluoromethoxy)phenyl]thien-2-yl}methanol (intermediate 118).
