N-[2-(2-Methylimidazol-1-yl)ethyl]-2-phenylbenzoxazole-4-carboxamide was prepared from 2-(2-methylimidazol-1-yl)ethylamine and 2-phenylbenzoxazole-4-carboxylic acid using the conditions described in Step C of Example 1. This compound was obtained in 35% yield as a white solid; mp 125-127° C.; 1H NMR (300 MHz, CD3OD) δ 8.11 (dd, J=7.8, 1.0 Hz, 2H), 7.96 (d, J=7.8 Hz, 1H), 7.73 (d, J=8.2 Hz, 1H), 7.63-7.52 (m, 3H), 7.42 (t, J=8.0 Hz, 1H), 7.13 (s, 1H), 6.86 (s, 1H), 4.22 (t, J=5.8 Hz, 2H), 3.87 (t, J=6.0 Hz, 2H), 2.34 (s, 3H); MS (APCI) m/z 347 [M+H]+
