Procedure
A solution of 6-[{1-(tert-butoxycarbonyl)-4-(trifluoromethyl)piperidin-4-ylamino}methyl]-4H-benzo[1,4]thiazin-3-one (3f) in 1:1 TFA/CH2Cl2 is stirred at room temperature until the starting material is consumed, then is concentrated to dryness in vacuo. The residue is partitioned between dilute NaOH and CH2Cl2, and the layers are separated. The aqueous layer is extracted with CH2Cl2, and the combined organic extracts are dried (Na2SO4) and concentrated in vacuo to afford the title compound.
