Procedure

A mixture of 1-(3,3-dimethyl-6-nitroindolin-1-yl)ethanone (300 mg, 1.3 mmol), 10% Pd—C (50 mg), and EtOH (50 mL) was stirred under H2 (1 atm) for 3 h. After that the catalyst was filtered off and the filtrate was concentrated to give a light yellow solid (260 mg).
