2.36 g of Z-Tyr(tBu)-Thr(tBu)-Gln-Asp(OtBu)-Phe-OCH3 in 450 ml of methanol are hydrogenated with 500 mg of 10 % strength palladium on charcoal in the usual manner at room temperature. A colourless foam is obtained which is homogeneous according to a thin layer chromatogram and is further employed as such. The following Rf-values are obtained in a thin layer chromatogram on silica gel: in chloroform-methanol (95:5) Rf = 0.22; Rf89 = 0.42.
