Procedure
Using the same procedure, 21.65 mmol of 3-methyl-1,2,4-oxadiazol-5-yl-acetic acid and 21.65 mmol of 7-amino-3-(5-methyl-1,3,4-thiadiazol-2-yl-mercaptomethyl)-3-cephem-4-carboxylic acid in 220 ml of dry acetonitrile were reacted for 3 hours at room temperature and 3 hours at 50° C.±5° C. to obtain a 58% yield of pure 7-[3-methyl-1,2,4-oxadiazol-5-yl-acetamido]-3-[5-methyl-1,3,4-thiadiazol-2-yl-mercaptomethyl]-3-cephem-4-carboxylic acid.
