Procedure
After 200 mg (0.00054 moles) of 1-(p-chlorophenylthio)-3-(N-carbomethoxymethyl-N-phenylamino)-2-propanol and 1 g of acetic anhydride were dissolved in 3 ml of pyridine and left to stand at room temperature for 20 hr, the reaction mixture was poured into iced water and extracted with ether. The ether layer was washed with 10% hydrochloric acid and water and dried. Evaporation or ether under reduced pressure gave 190 mg (86.5%) of an oily substance.
