Reaction Steps
In the manner described in Example 20, treatment of 2-(carbethoxymethyl)cyclopentan-1-one (Example 19) with acetic anhydride and p-toluenesulfonic acid monohydrate gives an oil, b.p. 130°-131° C. (7 mm).
