Procedure

6.2 g of N-pyrid-3-ylmethyl-N'-cyano-S -methylisothiourea are stirred together with 30 ml of ethylamine (70% in water) for one hour at 60° C. and then heated for 30 minutes at 80° C. The product that crystallises out when the mixture is cooled is washed with cold water and corresponds to the title compound of formula ##STR10## having a melting point of 177°-179° C. (compound No. 1).
