Procedure

Following the method of Example 1, N-methyl-4-piperidone (-0.68 g) and methyl 1H-indole-5-carboxylate (0.5 g) gave the title compound as microcrystals (0.18 g), m.p. 202°-204° following recrystallisation from ethyl acetate.
