Reaction Steps

1.0 Gram (2.7 mmol) of the 4,4,5,8-tetramethyl-6-(1,3-dimethyl-5-hydroxypyrazol-4-yl)carbonylthiochroman-1,1-dioxide obtained in Preparation Example 6 was dissolved in 10 ml of tetrahydrofuran, and further, 0.27 g (3.5 mmol) of pyridine and 90 mg of potassium iodide were added. Then, 0.63 g (3.5 mmol) of ethyl 2-bromopropionate was added, and the mixture was refluxed under heat for 7 hours. The reaction mixture was cooled to room temperature, and the solvent was distilled off under reduced pressure. The resultant residue was extracted by adding ethyl acetate, and the extract was consecutively washed with 10% hydrochloric acid, with a saturated sodium bicarbonate aqueous solution and with a saturated sodium chloride aqueous solution, and the solvent was distilled off under reduced pressure to give 0.57 g (yield 45%) of 4,4,5,8-tetramethyl-6-(1,3-dimethyl-5-(1-ethoxycarbonyl)ethoxypyrazol-4-yl)carbonylthiochroman-1,1-dioxide (Compound No. 40).
