Procedure
2-Allyl-3-hydroxy-3-methyl-4-cyclopentenone (15.2 g) was dropwise added to a 25% aqueous solution of N-methylhydroxylamine (30 g) in the same flask as used in Example 1 at a temperature of 15° to 25° C. for 1 hour. At the same temperature, the reaction mixture was kept for 2 hours. After completion of the reaction, the mixture was treated and purified in the same manner as in Example 5 to obtain 2-allyl-3-methyl-4-(N-hydroxy-N-methylamino)-2-cyclopentenone (16.5 g). Yield, 91%. nD20 1.5102.
