To a solution of 0.01 mole (2.7 g) of 1-[bis-(hydroxymethyl)-methyl]-6,7-dimethoxy-1,2,3,4-tetrahydroisoquinoline in 30 ml of absolute benzene 0.01 mole (0.3 g) of phenyl isocyanate is added, and the mixture is refluxed for 30 to 60 minutes. The reaction mixture is allowed to cool to room temperature, the precipitated crystals are filtered off, washed with ether and crystallized. The aimed compound is obtained with a melting point of 191° to 192° C. (ethyl acetate).
