Zirconium oxychloride and concentrated phosphoric acid were allowed to react with heating in the presence of excess phosphoric acid followed by filtration and washing with water to produce zirconium phospate. This zirconium phosphate was half-neutralized with NaOH to obtain a neutral form of zirconium phosphate. This compound was thoroughly washed with water and then calcined at 200° C. The resultant zirconium phosphate of neutral form was indicated by ZrNaH(PO4)2.
