Procedure
A mixture of 13.6 parts of 3-[[3-(trifluoromethyl)phenyl]amino]propanenitrile and 400 parts of methanol saturated with ammonia was hydrogenated at normal pressure and at a temperature below 20° C. with 3 parts of Raney Nickel catalyst. After the calculated amount of hydrogen was taken up, the catalyst was filtered off and the filtrate was evaporated, yielding 13 parts (100%) of N1 -[3-(trifluoromethyl)phenyl]-1,3-propanediamine as a residue (int. 106).
