Reaction Steps
trans-2-[3-(2-Hydroxy-n-propylsulfonyl)-4-n-propoxy-5-(2-bromoethoxy)phenyl]-5-(3,4,5-trimethoxyphenyl)tetrahydrofuran (50 mg, 0.08 mmol) (Example 12) was converted into the corresponding iodide by treatment with sodium iodide in DMF. The iodo intermediate and thiazole (0.17 mL, 2.4 mmol) in toluene (5 mL) was heated under reflux overnight. The solution was evaporated to dryness, and the product was isolated by preparative TLC (chloroform-methanol; 9:1, v/v), Rf 0.08.
