The title compound was prepared from (Z)-(S)-ethyl 3-{4-[3-(4-bromophenyl)-2-ethyl-but-2-enyloxy]-phenyl}-2-ethoxy-propionate (Example 98) (475 mg, 1.0 mmol) and sodium hydroxide (1M, 2.0 ml, 2.0 mmol) by a procedure analogous to that described in example 51, yielding (Z)-(S)-3-{4-[3-(4-bromophenyl)-2-ethyl-but-2-enyloxy]-phenyl}-2-ethoxy-propionic acid (0.424 g, 95%) as a pale yellow oil.
