The pale yellow solid, (E)-1-[4′-(3-hydroxy-1-methyl-propenyl)-biphenyl-4-yl]-ethanone was prepared from 4-acetylphenyl boronic acid and (E)-3-(4-iodophenyl)-but-2-en-1-ol by a procedure analogous to that described in example 54a.
