0.7 g. (1.8 mmol) 7-ethyl-2-(2-methoxy-4-aminophenyl)-6,7-dihydro-3H,5H-pyrrolo[2,3-f]benzimidazol-6-one hydrochloride, 15 ml. acetic anhydride and 0.3 g. sodium acetate were stirred for 3 hours at 40° C. After cooling, the product was filtered off with suction and, after treatment with charcoal, crystallised from methanol. There was obtained 0.44 g. (69% of theory) of the title compound; m.p. 245°-249° C.
