Procedure

2-Ethoxy-3-(4-hydroxyphenyl)propanoic acid ethyl ester (described in Example 20b) was alkylated with 3-(3-methanesulfonyloxyphenyl)propylmethanesulfonate using the same method as in example 1 (b) to give 2-ethoxy-3-{4-[3-(3-methanesulfonyloxyphenyl)propoxy]-phenyl}propanoic acid ethyl ester.
