To a suspension of 1,1′-thiocarbonyldiimidazole (0.192 g, 1.08 mmol) in DMF (5 mL, anhydrous) at 0° C. was added 1,2,3,4-tetrahydro-3-(3,4-methylenedioxyphenyl)-9H-pyrrolo-[3,4-b]quinolin-9-one (0.30 g, 0.98 mmol) (prepared as in Example 5). The mixture warmed to room temperature and stirred for 20 h. The solution was diluted with water and extracted into ethyl acetate. The organic layers were combined and washed with aq. NaHCO3 and brine, dried with MgSO4 and concentrated in vacuo, to yield the product as a light tan solid.
