Reaction Steps
A solution of aminoindole (D48, 0.40 g, 1.8 mmol) and 1,1′-carbonyldiimidazole (0.30 g, 1.8 mmol) in dichloromethane (40 mL) was stirred at room temperature for 1.75 h, then evaporated. To the residue was added dimethylformamide (DMF, 10 mL) and a solution of 5-methoxy-6-trifluoromethylindoline (D11, 0.39 g, 1.8 mmol) in DMF (5 mL). The mixture was stirred at 110° C. overnight, then poured into water and extracted with dichloromethane. The extract was washed with water, dried and evaporated. The residue was triturated with ether to give a grey solid, which was recrystallised from dichloromethane/methanol to give the title compound (0.15 g, 18%) m.p. 243-6° C.
