1-(4-Bromo-benzyl)-4-(4-methoxy-benzenesulfonyl)-piperidine-4-carboxylic acid was prepared starting from 1-(4-bromo-benzyl)-4-(4-methoxy-benzenesulfonyl)-piperidine-4- carboxylic acid ethyl ester (16.5 g, 33.3 mmol) dissolved in THF:methanol 3:1 and 10N NaOH (20 ml). The resulting reaction mixture was worked up as outlined in example 83. Yield 6.18 g (40%); tan solid; mp 215° C.; MS: 469.7 (M+H)+.
