0.29 g (0.56 mmol) of 3-(7-chloro-2-dibromomethyl-5-fluorobenzofuran-4-yl)-1-methyl-6-trifluoromethyl-2-(1H)-pyridone was added to 15 ml of sulfuric acid, followed by stirring at 50° C. for 1 hour. Then, the mixture was poured into water and extracted with diethyl ether. After washing with water, the organic layer was dried over anhydrous magnesium sulfate. Ethyl acetate was distilled off under reduced pressure. Then, the obtained crude crystals were washed with n-hexane to obtain 0.20 g (yield: 96%) of the desired product.
