火灾危害Special Hazards of Combustion Products: Produces irritating vapor when heated· HIGHLY FLAMMABLE: Will be easily ignited by heat, sparks or flames.Extremely flammable. Vapour/air mixtures are explosive.
火灾可能性Highly flammable liquid.Acetaldehyde vapor leaking into a building equipped only with flameproof electrical equipment ... ignited, possibly on contact with rusted steel, corroded aluminum or hot steam lines.Mixtures of 30-60% of acetaldehyde vapor with air or 60-80% with oxygen may ignite on surfaces at 176 & 105 °C, respectively, owing to formation & subsequent violent decomp of peroxyacetic acid.
健康危害Breathing vapors will be irritating and may cause nausea, vomiting, headache, and unconsciousness. Contact with eyes may cause burns and eye damage. Skin contact from clothing wet with the chemical causes burns or severe irritation. (USCG, 1999)· May cause toxic effects if inhaled or absorbed through skin.
危害概述Acetaldehyde is mainly used as an intermediate in the synthesis of other chemicals. It is ubiquitous in the environment and may be formed in the body from the breakdown of ethanol. Acute (short-term) exposure to acetaldehyde results in effects including irritation of the eyes, skin, and respiratory tract. Symptoms of chronic (long-term) intoxication of acetaldehyde resemble those of alcoholism. Acetaldehyde is considered a probable human carcinogen (Group B2) based on inadequate human cancer studies and animal studies that have shown nasal tumors in rats and laryngeal tumors in hamsters.Repeated or prolonged skin contact can cause dermatitis or burns. [NIOSH Guidelines for Chemical Hazards] May cause pulmonary edema after acute, heavy inhalation exposure[ICSC] Allergic contact dermatitis reported in a textile worker[Kanerva, p. 1737] If left on clothes, can cause reddening of skin[CHRIS] Acetaldehyde is a skin irritant. [Quick CPC] Causes eye irritation in volunteers at 25 ppm (lowest) to 50 ppm (majority). In animal studies, causes nasal and laryngeal carcinomas at >750 ppm in rats and at 1650 ppm in hamstersAlcoholics have an order of magnitude higher average levels of DNA adducts of acetaldehyde in their white blood cells. [ACGIH] Acetaldehyde (UN1089) has warning of explosive polymerization. [ERG 2016]

体内负荷Four of eight samples of mother's milk were positive for acetaldehyde(1). The concentration of acetaldehyde in exhaled human breath ranged from 3 to 7 ppb for 3 subjects breathing medical air 5 min prior to measurement(2)the concentration of acetaldehyde in exhaled human breath ranged from not detected to 89.5 ppb for 8 subjects breathing purified air(2). In another study, the concentration of acetaldehyde in expired air from human subjects ranged from 8.5 to 79.0 ug/hr(3). Acetaldehyde is produced at an intermediate level of sugar metabolism in the body and therefore occurs in trace quantities in blood(4). Acetaldehyde is the primary hepatic oxidative metabolite of ethanol(5).Acetaldehyde is an intermediate product in the decomposition of sugars in the body and hence occurs in trace quantities in blood(1).Personal air samples taken from 15 US trucking terminals found acetaldehyde mean concns of 5.63, 8.78, 6.27, and 45.00 ug/cu m in 234 nonsmoking drivers, 62 smoking drivers, 65 loading dock workers, and 17 mechanic shop workers, respectively(1). Acetaldehyde was found in 15 of 15 personal air samples at a mean concn of 7.9 ppb from samples taken in Helsinki, tested May to Sep 1997(2). Acetaldehyde was detected in 36 winter and 42 summer personal air samples from West Central Harlem High School students at 13.0 and 20.2 ug/cu m in 1999(3).

相互作用Methionine, administered to ethanol treated mice and rats, significantly reduced circulating acetaldehyde levels without altering circulating levels of ethanol. Hepatic levels of acetaldehyde were also lowered by methionine. Methionine was effective when given prior to or after the administration of ethanol, but the time course of the action of methionine suggested the necessity for metabolic transformation of this amino acid in order for the acetaldehyde-lowering effect to be evidenced. Studies with humans, given methionine doses of approximately one-tenth of those used with mice, indicated that methionine can also lower acetaldehyde in humans ingesting ethanol. Given the toxic characteristics of acetaldehyde, methionine may prove effective in reducing the damaging effects of ethanol ingestion.... Assessed was the influence of preincubation of rat hepatic stellate cells (HSCs) with 30 uM ZnCl2 on ethanol- (in the presence of 4-methyl pyrazole (4-MP)) or acetaldehyde-induced toxicity, apoptosis, migration, expression of smooth muscle alpha-actin (alpha-SMA) and procollagen I, release of reactive oxygen species (ROS), tumor necrosis factor-alpha (TNF-alpha), tumor growth factor-beta1 (TGF-beta1), metalloproteinase-2 (MMP-2) and tissue inhibitors of metalloproteinases (TIMPs) production. Intracellular signals such as nuclear factor-kappaB (NFkappaB), C-Jun N-terminal kinase (JNK) and p38 mitogen-activated protein kinase (p38 MAPK) induced by ethanol and its metabolite were also assessed. 30 microM zinc protected HSCs against ethanol and acetaldehyde toxicity and inhibited their apoptosis. Zinc inhibited the production of ROS by HSCs treated with ethanol and acetaldehyde and inhibited their migration. Zinc also inhibited ethanol- and acetaldehyde-induced TGF-beta1 and TNF-alpha production. Zinc down-regulated ethanol- and acetaldehyde-induced production of TIMP-1 and TIMP-2 and decreased the activity of MMP-2. In ethanol- and acetaldehyde-induced HSCs, zinc inhibited the activation of the p38 MAPK as well as the JNK transduction pathways and phosphorylation of IkappaB and Smad 3. The results indicated that zinc supplementation inhibited ethanol- and acetaldehyde-induced activation of HSCs on different levels, acting as an antioxidant and inhibitor of MAPK, TGF-beta and NFkappaB/IkappaB transduction signaling. The remarkable inhibition of several markers of HCS activation makes zinc a promising agent for antifibrotic combination therapies. To evaluate the potential interaction/contribution of inductive and deleterious effects of tobacco compounds on human osteoblastic cells cultured on plasma-sprayed titanium implants exposed to combinations of nicotine, acrolein, and acetaldehyde. Cell response was assessed as proliferation and function. Titanium implants, seeded with human bone marrow-derived cells (first subculture), were cultured in osteogenic-inducing conditions for 28 days in the absence (control) and in the presence of tobacco compounds to assess (1) the dose-dependent profile of acrolein (0.01 to 0.12 mmol/L) and acetaldehyde (0.1 to 6 mmol/L) and (2) the effect of the simultaneous exposure to combinations of nicotine, acrolein, and acetaldehyde. In later experiments, seeded implants were exposed to two different concentrations of nicotine (1.2 mmol/L, known to have inductive effects on cell behavior, and 2.4 mmol/L, reported to elicit deleterious effects on cell behavior) with acrolein, acetaldehyde, or both, at a concentration that inhibits 50% (IC50). Acrolein and acetaldehyde caused dose-dependent inhibitory effects at levels similar to and greater than 0.03 and 0.1 mmol/L, respectivelyIC50 regarding cell viability/proliferation and alkaline phosphatase was 0.06 mmol/L for acrolein and 0.3 mmol/L for acetaldehyde. Matrix mineralization was prevented at levels higher than 0.03 mmol/L acrolein and 0.1 mmol/L acetaldehyde. Exposure to a combination of nicotine 1.2 mmol/L with acrolein (0.06 mmol/L), acetaldehyde (0.3 mmol/L), or both resulted in a cell behavior intermediate to that observed in nicotine-treated cultures (induced cell response) and aldehyde-treated cultures (deleterious cell response). On the other hand, exposure to nicotine 2.4 mmol/L with acrolein (0.06 mmol/L), acetaldehyde (0.3 mmol/L), or both caused cumulative cytotoxic responses. Results suggest that interactions of tobacco compounds on osteoblasts might contribute to the overall effects of tobacco use on implant osseointegration and long-time survival.... The aim of the present study is to better understand the hypothermic effects of acetaldehyde and the possible contribution of acetaldehyde in ethanol-induced hypothermia, especially under conditions leading to acetaldehyde accumulation. Female Swiss mice were injected intraperitoneally with ethanol and acetaldehyde and their rectal temperatures were measured with a digital thermometer at various time points after the injections. Experiment 1 compared the hypothermic effects of various acetaldehyde doses (0 to 300 mg/kg) with a reference dose of ethanol (3 g/kg). Experiment 2 tested the effects of a pretreatment with the aldehyde dehydrogenase (ALDH) inhibitor cyanamide (25 mg/kg) on ethanol- and acetaldehyde-induced hypothermia. In experiments 3 and 4, mice received a combined pretreatment with cyanamide and the alcohol dehydrogenase (ADH) inhibitor 4-Methylpyrazole (10 mg/kg) before the injection of ethanol or acetaldehyde. Acetaldehyde at doses between 100 and 300 mg/kg induced significant hypothermic effects, but of shorter duration than ethanol-induced hypothermia. The inhibition of ALDH enzymes by cyanamide induced a strong potentiation of both ethanol- and acetaldehyde-induced hypothermia. The pretreatment with 4-MP prevented the potentiation of ethanol-induced hypothermia by cyanamide, but slightly increased the potentiation of acetaldehyde-induced hypothermia by cyanamide. The results of the present study clearly show that acetaldehyde has hypothermic properties in mice at least at relatively high concentrations. Furthermore, the accumulation of acetaldehyde following ALDH inhibition strongly enhanced the hypothermic effects of ethanol. These latter results confirm the hypothermic properties of acetaldehyde and show that acetate, the next step in ethanol metabolism, is not involved in these hypothermic effects. Finally, the experiment with 4-MP indicates that the potentiating effects of cyanamide are mediated by the peripheral accumulation of acetaldehyde, which then reaches the brain to induce a severe hypothermia. For more Interactions (Complete) data for ACETALDEHYDE (26 total), please visit the HSDB record page.

环境归趋TERRESTRIAL FATE: Based on a classification scheme(1), an estimated Koc value of 1(SRC), determined from a structure estimation method(2), indicates that acetaldehyde is expected to have very high mobility in soil(SRC). Volatilization of acetaldehyde from moist soil surfaces is expected to be an important fate process(SRC) given a Henry's Law constant of 6.67X10-5 atm-cu m/mole(3). Acetaldehyde is expected to volatilize from dry soil surfaces(SRC) based upon a vapor pressure of 758 mm Hg at 20 °C(4). An 80% of theoretical BOD using activated sludge in the Japanese MITI test(5) suggests that biodegradation is an important environmental fate process in soil(SRC). Acetaldhyde was oxidized in a silty clay loam soil but no rates were given(6). Acetaldehyde absorbs at wavelengths >290 nm(7) and is susceptible to direct photolysis by sunlight(8)therefore, photolysis may be an important fate process of soil surfaces exposed to sunlight(SRC).AQUATIC FATE: Based on a classification scheme(1), an estimated Koc value of 1(SRC), determined from a structure estimation method(2), indicates that acetaldehyde is not expected to adsorb to suspended solids and sediment(SRC). Volatilization from water surfaces is expected(3) based upon a Henry's Law constant of 6.67X10-5 atm-cu m/mole(4). Using this Henry's Law constant and an estimation method(3), volatilization half-lives for a model river and model lake are 11 hours and 5.3 days respectively(SRC). According to a classification scheme(5), an estimated BCF of 3(SRC), from its log Kow of -0.34(6) and a regression-derived equation(2), suggests the potential for bioconcentration in aquatic organisms is low(SRC). Utilizing the Japanese MITI test(7), 80% of the Theoretical BOD was reached in 2 weeks indicating that biodegradation is an important environmental fate process. In a die-away test in seawater, acetaldehyde concentrations declined to approximately 25% of initial values in 1 hr, whereas no decline in concentration was observed in sterile controls(8). Acetaldehyde is not expected to undergo hydrolysis in the environment due to the lack of functional groups that hydrolyze under environmental conditions(3). Acetaldehyde absorbs at wavelengths >290 nm(9) and is susceptible to photodegradation by sunlight in water(8).ATMOSPHERIC FATE: According to a model of gas/particle partitioning of semivolatile organic compounds in the atmosphere(1), acetaldehyde, which has a vapor pressure of 758 mm Hg at 20 °C(2), is expected to exist solely as a vapor in the ambient atmosphere. Vapor-phase acetaldehyde is degraded in the atmosphere by reaction with photochemically-produced hydroxyl radicals(SRC)the half-life for this reaction in air is estimated to be 26 hours(SRC), calculated from its rate constant of 1.50X10-11 cu cm/molecule-sec at 25 °C(3). Acetaldehyde absorbs at wavelengths >290 nm(4) and, therefore, may be susceptible to direct photolysis by sunlight(SRC). The direct photolysis half-life in the atmosphere has reported values of 8.4 hours(5) and 16 hours(6). The direct photolysis half-life at 55 deg N latitude has been calculated as 34 hours in summer and 296 hours in winter(7). The rate constant for the vapor-phase reaction of acetaldehyde with atmospheric nitrate radicals has been measured as 2.62X10-15 cu cm/molecule-sec at 25 °C(4)this corresponds to an atmospheric half-life of about 12 days(SRC) at an atmospheric concentration of 2.5X10+8 nitrate radicals per cu cm(8). The nitrate radical (NO3) is the dominant atmospheric oxidant during the night-time in most atmospheric environments(9). Monitoring data have shown that acetaldehyde is removed from the air by wet and dry deposition(10).

毒性概述IDENTIFICATION AND USE: Acetaldehyde is a colorless volatile liquid with a pungent suffocating odor. It is not registered for current pesticide use in the U.S., but approved pesticide uses may change periodically and so federal, state and local authorities must be consulted for currently approved use. Acetaldehyde used as an intermediate in the production of cellulose acetate, vinyl acetate resins, acetate esters, synthetic pyridine derivatives, and terephthalic acid. Other uses include: in the silvering of mirrorsin leather tanning, as a denaturant for alcoholin fuel mixturesas a hardener for gelatin fibersin glue and casein productsas a preservative for fish and fruitin the paper industryas a synthetic flavoring agentand in the manufacture of cosmetics. Acetaldehyde has been identified as being commonly used in hydraulic fracturing fluids. HUMAN EXPOSURE AND TOXICITY: Acetaldehyde is a metabolic intermediate in humans. It has been identified in food, beverages and cigarette smoke. By far, the main source of exposure to acetaldehyde in the general population is through metabolism of ethanol. Workers may be exposed in some manufacturing industries and during alcohol fermentation. Several isoenzymic forms of acetaldehyde dehydrogenase (ALDH) have been identified in the human liver and other tissues. There is polymorphism for mitochondrial ALDH. Subjects that are homozygous or heterozygous for a point mutation in the mitochondrial ADLH corresponding gene have low activity of this enzyme, metabolize acetaldehyde slowly and are intolerant of ethanol alcohol. There is some metabolism of acetaldehyde in human renal tubulesthe liver is the most important metabolic site. Limited studies involving human volunteers have shown that acetaldehyde was mildly irritating to the eyes and upper respiratory tract following short term exposures. Intravenous infusion of 5% acetaldehyde at a rate of 20.6- 82.4 mg/min for up to 36 min into normal human subjects caused an increase in heart rate, ventilation and dead space, and a decrease in alveolar carbon dioxide levels. These symptoms are qualitatively and quantitatively similar to those seen after ethanol intake in subjects previously treated with disulfiram (Antabuse), a known inhibitor of ALDH. Large doses may cause death by respiratory paralysis. Symptoms of chronic intoxication resemble those of chronic alcoholism. Acetaldehyde has been implicated as the putatively toxic metabolite in the induction of ethanol alcohol associated liver damage, facial flushing and developmental effects. Human lymphocytes (from known alcoholics) were exposed to acetaldehyde concn of 0.02 mg/mL and 0.04 mg/mL. Results indicate that chromosomal aberrations occurred at both concentrations. Acetaldehyde-DNA adducts have been observed in granulocytes and lymphocytes of human alcohol abusers. ANIMAL STUDIES: In repeated dose studies, both the oral and inhalation routes, toxic effects at relatively low concentrations were limited to the sites of initial contact. In a study where rats were administered acetaldehyde in their drinking water effects were limited to slight focal hyperkeratosis of the forestomach. Respiratory effects were noted in hamsters exposed to acetaldehyde by inhalation, degenerative changes were observed in the trachea. Degenerative changes in respiratory epithelium and larynx were noted at higher concentrations. Following inhalation by rats, acetaldehyde is distributed to the blood, liver, kidney, spleen, heart and other tissues. Low levels were detected in embryos after maternal ip injection of acetaldehyde (mouse) and following maternal exposure to ethanol (mouse and rat). Parenteral exposure of pregnant rats and mice to acetaldehyde induced fetal malformations. Acetaldehyde is genotoxic in vitro, inducing gene mutations, clastogenic effects and sister chromatid exchanges (SCEs) in mammalian cells in the absence of exogenous metabolic activation. Negative results were noted with Salmonella. Following ip injection, acetaldehyde induced SCEs in the bone marrow of Chinese hamsters and mice. This chemical administered ip did not increase the frequency of micronuclei in early mouse spermatids. Increased incidences of tumors have been noted in inhalation studies on rats and hamsters exposed to acetaldehyde. In rats, there were dose related increases in nasal adenocarcinomas and squamous cell carcinomas. In hamsters, increases in nasal and laryngeal carcinomas were non-significant. Distribution of acetaldehyde to brain interstitial fluid, but not to brain cells has been demonstrated following ip injection of ethanol. Acetaldehyde is taken up by red blood cells following consumption in baboons. Following oral administration, virtually no unchanged acetaldehyde is excreted in the urine. The major pathway for the metabolism of acetaldehyde is by oxidation to acetate. ECOTOXICITY STUDIES: Acetaldehyde (0.1% or 1.0% for 2 hr) induced mutations in genes that affect the egg-laying system of Caenorhabditis elegans.Acetaldehyde can form adducts with DNA, causing damage such as cross-links. Acetaldehyde is included on this list. Effective date 9/30/91Sunset date: 6/30/98.
大气标准This action promulgates standards of performance for equipment leaks of Volatile Organic Compounds (VOC) in the Synthetic Organic Chemical Manufacturing Industry (SOCMI). The intended effect of these standards is to require all newly constructed, modified, and reconstructed SOCMI process units to use the best demonstrated system of continuous emission reduction for equipment leaks of VOC, considering costs, non air quality health and environmental impact and energy requirements. Acetaldehyde is produced, as an intermediate or a final product, by process units covered under this subpart.Listed as a hazardous air pollutant (HAP) generally known or suspected to cause serious health problems. The Clean Air Act, as amended in 1990, directs EPA to set standards requiring major sources to sharply reduce routine emissions of toxic pollutants. EPA is required to establish and phase in specific performance based standards for all air emission sources that emit one or more of the listed pollutants. Acetaldehyde is included on this list.
