Cleanup Methods · 1 Eintrag

If tin ... /is/ spilled or leaked, the following steps should be taken: 1. Ventilate area of spill or leak. 2. Collect spilled or leaked material in the most convenient and safe manner for reclamation or for disposal ... Liquid containing inorganic tin compounds should be absorbed in vermiculite, dry sand, earth, or a similar material.

Human Toxicity Excerpts · 2 Einträge

METALLIC TIN ... GENERALLY CONSIDERED OF LOW ORAL TOXICITY DUE TO ... POOR ALIMENTARY ABSORPTION.

Exposure to dust or fumes ... is known to cause a benign pneumoconiosis (stannosis). This form of pneumoconiosis produces distinctive progressive x-ray changes of the lung as long as exposure persists, but there is no distinctive fibrosis, no evidence of disability, and no special complicating factors.

Non-Human Toxicity Excerpts · 5 Einträge

... GUINEA PIGS SUBJECTED TO IP INJECTION OF SUSPENSION OF TIN DUST SHOWED THAT THE REACTION OF LUNG TISSUES WAS OF INERT TYPE. DUST WAS DEPOSITED IN PERITONEUM AS COLORED NODULES CONSISTING OF DARK PIGMENT MIXED WITH REFRINGENT CRYSTALS WHICH IN SOME CASES SEEM TO BE INCLUDED INSIDE MACROPHAGES, COMPARABLE TO "DUST CELLS" OF PULMONARY ANTHRACOSIS.

METALLIC TIN CAUSES NONSPECIFIC SMOOTH SURFACE CARCINOGENESIS IN EXPERIMENTAL ANIMALS WHERE SMALL TIN DISKS ARE IMPLANTED SUBCUTANEOUSLY OR INTRAMUSCULARLY.

RESULTS OF ANIMAL EXPERIMENTS INDICATE THAT ... INGESTION OF CONSIDERABLE QUANTITIES OF POWDERED TIN MAY CAUSE VOMITING BUT NOT PERMANENT INJURY.

Tin implanted as a particle of metal in the vitreous body of rabbits has been well tolerated for at least a year.
