Versuchsvorschrift

(R)-2-((S)-2-hydroxy-1-phenylethylamino)-2-(1-methylcyclopropyl)acetic acid (1.0 g, 4.0 mmol) was suspended in MeOH (50 mL). Added 1.0 M HCl in MeOH (4.0 mL, 4.0 mmol) and all solids dissolved to provide a colorless solution. Added 10% Pd/C (100 mg) and stirred under H2 balloon overnight. The reaction mixture was filtered over Celite, rinsing with MeOH. The filtrate was concentrated to a sticky white solid (1.0 g). Trituration with Et2O afforded 700 mg of (R)-2-amino-2-(1-methylcyclopropyl)acetic acid hydrochloride as a white solid.
