For this preparation, dilithiated lithium phthalocyanine is contacted with (2H)-2,2,6,6-tetramethylpiperidine. The latter was prepared by H-D isotopic exchange between commercially available tetramethylpyridine (TMP) and 2H2O at ambient temperature, followed by a separation of the organic phase and the aqueous phase by ether addition.
