After stirring for 2 h at −78° C. , the reaction was quenched with solid ammonium chloride (4 g). The mixture was diluted with ethyl acetate (200 mL) and washed with 1N HCl (100 mL), saturated aqueous sodium bicarbonate and brine. The organic layer was dried (MgSO4), filtered, evaporated and chromatographed (20-30% ethyl acetate/hexanes) to give trifluoromethanesulfonic acid, 2-chloro-4-[[[[3-[[(1,1-dimethylethyl)dimethylsilyl]oxy]phenyl]methyl]amino]carbonyl]-6-methylphenyl ester (5.00 g, 63%) as pale orange oil.
