The mixture was then stirred at 60° C. for 2 hours under an atmosphere of nitrogen and allowed to cool to ambient temperature. The reaction mixture was filtered and the filtrate evaporated in vacuo. The residue was purified by column chromatography on silica by gradient elution with dichloromethane/methanol (100/0 to 95/5), to give (2R)-4-(indol-5-yloxy)-6-methoxy-7-(oxiran-2-ylmethoxy)quinazoline as a yellow solid (1.92 g, 53%).
